Frequently Asked Questions
About the bowls
-
All Echo crystal bowls are made from 99.99% pure quartz crystal, hand-crafted by specialist artisans who have spent years perfecting the art of crystal bowl making. Each bowl is individually tuned and tested before it leaves the workshop.
-
Clear bowls are made from pure quartz with no added colour or coating - what you see is the crystal itself. Cosmic bowls have a fine metallic essence applied to the exterior, typically iron, manganese, or titanium, which creates a shifting iridescent effect as light moves across them. Both produce the same quality of tone. The cosmic finish does not affect the sound.

If you're building your first practice, a mid-range note — D4, E4, or F4 — is a versatile place to start. These sit in the warmest part of the collection and work well in most spaces. If you already have a practice and know what you're looking for, the note should follow the feeling. If you'd like a personal recommendation, get in touch and we'll help you choose.
-
432Hz refers to the tuning frequency of the bowl. All Echo bowls are tuned to 432Hz - a frequency many practitioners and researchers consider to be more naturally resonant with the body than the modern Western standard of 440Hz. The difference is subtle to the ear, but many people report that 432Hz feels warmer and more grounding. It is a matter of personal preference, and both are widely used in professional sound healing practice.
-
Handle your bowl with care and keep it on its O-ring when not in use. Clean with a soft, dry cloth - avoid harsh chemicals or abrasive materials. Store in the Echo canvas bag between uses. Crystal bowls are durable but will crack if struck hard or dropped.
-

Different notes create different felt experiences in the body. Lower notes tend to be grounding and settling. Higher notes are more spacious and elevating. The note you choose should reflect the kind of experience you want to create in yourself or in the people you work with.

Crystal singing bowls are made from pure quartz crystal and produce a sustained, pure tone with a long resonance tail. Tibetan singing bowls are made from metal alloys and produce a warmer, more complex sound with multiple overtones. Both are used in sound healing - they are different tools with different qualities.
